Coneural reunites synergetically several researchers from Cluj,
Romania also affiliated with various other academic and industrial institutions.
Razvan Florian (director
of Coneural) graduated at Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan, France
and is a PhD student at Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca. He previously
was a visiting researcher at the University of Genova (Italy), RIKEN Brain
Science Institute (Japan), Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (USA) and LMDH,
Paris VI University (France). His interests include cognitive robotics, interactionist
and constructivist models of knowledge representation, spiking neural networks,
computational neuroscience, and the cognitive basis of science.
Raul
Muresan holds a PhD from the Technical
University of Cluj. He previously was a postdoc scientist at Frankfurt
Institute for Advanced Studies and the Max Planck Institute for Brain
Research and principal researcher at Nivis Ldt. His research
interests
include the dynamics
of neural microcircuits, spiking
neural networks and the computational neuroscience of vision.
Sergiu P. Pasca graduated the University of Medicine
and Pharmacy, Cluj. He is interested in the
neurobiological basis of psychiatric diseases (autism and schizophrenia),
the neurophysiology of the visual cortex,
the disturbances of one carbon metabolism and redox status in neuropsychiatric
diseases,
and darwinian medicine. He recently received the "Medical student of
the year" award in a national competition.
Vlad
Moca is a PhD student at the Technical University of Cluj and previously
worked in the Max-Planck Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt, Germany.
He works on theoretical neuroscience.
Ioana Tincas is a PhD student in the Psychology department
of Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj. She is interested in developmental cognitive
psychology.
Ovidiu Jurjut is a PhD student at Frankfurt Institute for Advanced
Studies and Max-Planck Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt. He is interested
in methods for analysis and visualization of multi-dimensional data.

Lehel
Csato is a lecturer at Babes-Bolyai University. He graduated
at the same university, holds a PhD from Aston University, UK and has
been a post-doc at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics,
Germany and a research assistant at the Institute of Isotopes of the
Hungarian Academy of Science. He is interested in probabilistic learning.

Dumitru (Dan)
Dumitrescu is a professor in the Computer
Science department of Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj, where he teaches artificial
intelligence, neural networks and evolutionary computation. He also was an
invited professor at the University of Pisa, Italy. He authored 9 books and
more than 120 papers and is a reviewer of several scientific journals. His
current research interests include evolutionary computation, neural networks
and biologically inspired computing.
Mircea
Miclea is a professor in the Psychology
department of Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj, and previously was
a Minister
of Education
and Research in the Romanian Government. He was an invited professor at Birmingham
University, New School for Social Research (New York), University of Wien,
and Universite de Grenoble, and a fellow of New Europe College and of the
Netherlands Institute of Advanced Studies. His current research interests
include applied cognitive psychology.
Former affiliated scientists
Ioana Goga graduated
in computer science from Politehnica University of Bucharest and in psychology
from Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj, Romania, and holds a MS from University
College Dublin, Ireland. She was a visiting researcher in the Autonomous
Systems Lab at EPFL, Switzerland. Her interests include cortical computation,
sensorimotor control and development, pulsed neural networks, epigenetic
robotics and imitation learning. She currently works in a software company.

Lazar is a PhD student at the Frankfurt
Institute for Advanced Studies, Germany.
